The Great Testing Debate

Colledge College Admissions Advising Great Testing Debate Blog Image

The pandemic has unleashed a panoply of pronouncements from colleges and universities about the role of tests in college admissions.  Most of those pronouncements have involved schools going “test-optional,” and even permanently “test free” (UC slams the door on standardized admissions testing.. LA Times). But what does that mean for students and families deciding whether or not to pursue standardized testing for college admissions this year?

In the next installment in our College Admissions Literacy Series, we’ll be tackling this question with help from Matty Steiner with Compass Education Group, a leading test prep and tutoring company.  Matty has developed valuable insights into how a test-optional approach plays out in admissions decision-making, and they’ll be sharing those and more during this recorded online Zoom session.

We’ll also be offering insights into the different college approaches to tests (test optional, test flexible, and test free), providing details on test requirements for college in a post-COVID admissions year, and mapping out this year’s college admissions landscape.
