Getting Educated about Colleges: The Actual & Virtual College Visit

‘Tis the season for college visits

All this Californian rain means that a wildflower superbloom is just around the corner, so spring has officially sprung.  And if you’re anything like us here at Colledge, your absolute favorite thing about this season is college visits over spring break.  We’re positively giddy!

But what is your family actually supposed to do once you get on a college campus?  What questions can you ask your tour guide to figure out whether the social and academic climate is a best, right-fit for your child?

For expert answers to these questions and more, join us on Thursday, March 23 at 6:00 pm (PST) for Getting Educated about College: The actual & virtual college visit.  We’ll be joined by Ed Devine, Western Regional Director and Manager in Undergraduate Admissions of Xavier University.  In this informative conversation, we’ll address topics like

  • Understanding the role of college visits vis-a-vis demonstrated interest;
  • Using college visits to differentiate one campus from another;
  • Finding out how each institution would (or would not) match what your student is looking for in a college; and
  • Preparing for your campus tours to maximize your time.

There really is no substitute for seeing a college virtually or in-person, and getting to ask questions of current students and admissions officers.  But the college visit isn’t just a great opportunity to learn about each school: it’s also a great way to show a university you’re into them, and it often helps families realize previously unrecognized must-haves and deal-breakers for their college list.

At Colledge, we know that families need reliable information about individual universities and about the application process – and with decades of admissions knowledge under our collective belts, we want to be your resource.  So join us Thursday, and if you’d like to get our professional review of your student’s applicant profile, sign up for your Student Assessment for Admissions or schedule a call with us.
