Andy Losier
Director of Admission Services
When Andy began his undergraduate experience at the University of Denver, he knew he was onto something special, but little did he know what lied ahead. With the excitement of this new chapter came some hardship with the transition to college. It was not until six months in that he felt in his groove.
During that pivotal time and the following four years, Andy had the support of teachers and administrators who not only became mentors, but showed him how rewarding a career in education could be. As a Student Orientation, Advising and Registration (SOAR) leader, Andy began carving his own path in education through leadership positions in Student Life, the Alumni Association and the Office of Undergraduate Admission.
Though that was many years ago, it remains critical to the foundation of why Andy stays in education. With eight years as an Admission Officer and ten years as a college counselor and administrator in independent schools in Southern California, Andy is committed to meeting students where they are, hearing their goals and concerns about the future, and giving them friendly and informed support and guidance as they embark on the same transition that had such an impact in his earlier life.
Just like his parents said when he was going through the admission process, Andy too now reflects that so much has changed since he went through it. Fortunately, the world of college admission is close, collaborative and an expert on how to do professional development well. Having served on boards for regional admission organizations before, Andy looks forward to reengaging with those organizations, where information on the latest admission news and trends will surely help the students and families he supports.
