Marcel has been a committed higher education professional for eight years. He is a first-generation college graduate from a single parent, low-income background, born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He made his way to California in 2010 to pursue his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and English Literature at Claremont McKenna College where he also started his career in higher education as an admission counselor. He has worked in the admission offices at Saint Mary’s College of California, the University of Southern California (USC), Occidental College, and most recently, Stanford University. He completed his Master’s degree in Enrollment Management and Policy from USC Rossier School of Education in 2021 and has since transitioned into his current role as Opportunity Fund Manager in the First Generation and/or Low-Income Office within Student Affairs at Stanford. He is looking forward to working with students and families and helping them find their best fit college. In his free time, you can find him binging hours of tv/movies on a streaming platform, hiking, trying out a new recipe or restaurant, or listening to music.
